Alga Hills, located in the hills above La Costa and La Costa Resort and Spa, was founded in 1989. Homes in the community have a Mediterranean influence and were built around two pools and three tot lots--all convenently spaced throughout the neighborhood. Carlsbad and Encinitas beaches are close, as are shopping and entertainment.

Located in the San Marcos Unified School District, Alga Hills is served by nearby La Costa Meadows Elementary School (grades Kindergarten through 5th grade), while middle school is located in nearby San Elijo Hills, and San Marcos High School is just a few miles away.
