Olivenhain Meeting Hall
Located adjacent to affluent Rancho Santa Fe. Olivenhain (pronounced Oh-LEE-ven-hine) sits at the exclusive eastern edge of Encinitas, bordered the San Elijo Lagoon to the south and by La Costa and South Carlsbad to the west. Settled by German immigrants in 1884, Olivenhain today boasts open fields and hillsides–many of which have been subdivided into spacious custom home sites with horse pastures and corrals–along with avocado and citrus groves. Life and automobile traffic move a little more slowly here, which seems to suit its residents perfectly. Olivenhain at one time was an independent rural community, but in 1986 it joined with Leucadia, New Encinitas, Old Encinitas and Cardiff-by-the Sea to join in the
Map of Encinitas
incorporation of the CIty of Encinitas.
The Olivenhain Town Hall was originally completed in the late 1890′s, and has been rehabilitated and restored several times since. Today, it is on the rolls of the National Register of Historic Places, pursuant to an application made by the Olivenhain Town Council in 1993. There are a number of exclusive subdivisions in Olivenhain including Wildflower Estates, Olivenhain Estates, Windsor Estates, Knightsbridge Estates, Copper Creek Estates, Monte Verde and Adams Run.
